Professional Biography

Stephen has over 30 years’ experience as a commercial and property lawyer.

His current focus is on residential and lifestyle developments, golf courses, commercial and industrial parks, hotels and motels, tenders and expressions of interest, retail and commercial leasing; including advising on joint ventures, owners corporations, off-the-plan subdivisions, water, planning, land tax, capital gains tax, GST and GAIC.

He advises small and medium businesses from start up to succession, including structure, asset protection, contracts, mortgages, leasing, franchising, and dispute resolution through mediation and litigation.

Clients include family businesses, property developers, private lenders, accountants, investment advisors, and real estate professionals.

His experience includes the funeral and cemetery industry. He is a past board member of the Southern Metropolitan Cemeteries Trust, Chair of the Infrastructure and Planning Committee and Founding Chair of the Community Advisory Committee.

His experience includes long term strategic planning focusing on change management; risk appetite; financial performance; growth; external stakeholder management; people and organisation; brand development; operational excellence; information technology; land use and development; and social and environmental responsibility.

Stephen is a community leader, mentor, facilitator, and mediator. He has practised with a number of high profile commercial firms both in Melbourne and on the Mornington Peninsula. He is the past president of the Mornington Peninsula Lawyers’ Association, the Frankston Primary School Council, and the Rotary Club of Seaford-Carrum Downs.
